    Green Smoothie Revolution

After having my baby a few months ago, I began to journey into the RAW foods genre to help me be healthy and lose the baby weight. So far.. AMAZING!

I am not a 100% raw foodie, I am technically a newbie, although I do eat raw for 2 meals and for snacks. Breakfast I begin drinking green smoothies or just plain eating raw fruit depending on my mood for the day. Lunch is raw veggies and fruits.. salads and sometimes another green smoothie. And dinner usually consists of a family cooked meal, but I do involve raw foods from time to time. Including salads and raw veggies with dips.

Green Smoothie Revolution is a fabulous guide into the raw food green smoothie kick. I have tried several different green smoothies that I love and frankly, so do my children. Green Smoothie Revolution gives many recipes for beginners, children versions, and even the brave & adventurous ones. But... We as a family love the children's ones, very sweet and not "green" tasting. *If you are a beginner you would probably love these too.

Green Smoothies are amazing for many reasons, one being; blended greens open up cell walls. So if you are going for all raw diet, you need to open cell walls to partake in ALL the nutrients it has to offer. Chewing alone doesn't break down everything you need, you simply can not chew it sufficiently to derive to full benefits. Which is also why juicing greens is also effective, though I found out by reading this book that, blending works more efficiently unless you need juices for digestive issues, seeing as juice digests much quicker than solids.

Eating raw foods; greens, fruits, and vegetables is very important. Raw foods are high in fiber, and nutrients.. and are literally 90% water. That is everything your body needs to function properly. We have cursed ourselves with the "normal" refined foods we have consumed since birth. We have taught our bodies not to digest normally/properly. So eating raw foods, even if you don't go 100%, is essential for your body.

I really loved the entire book. This book has extremely useful information; like why it's important to "rotate your greens!" What a great resource for overall health and nutrition. With 200 recipes you are bound to find several you love. And your children! Green Smoothie Revolution has an entire chapter dedicated to just children. Smoothies my children actually drink. They even drink the regular versions too.

BUY IT!! Green Smoothie Revolution can be purchased online for $14.95. Through North Atlantic Books and even Amazon.com.

Thanks for the review, I'm going to have to check this book out. I'm not a hardcore raw-foodie but I love to eat healthy/good food.

    Stopping by from SITS!

I'm not sure if I could try this. Maybe I could pretend it was a milkshake.

I love green smoothies, although I'm not sure my version is technically a "green smoothie." My fellow CSA members and I were trying to figure out how to use up all the kale and swiss chard we got in our shares each week, and someone told us to try it in smoothies. So I discovered that my favorite way to eat greens is 1 cup of raw milk, 1 cup of frozen berries, and a good handful of kale or chard (note: parsley doesn't work so well. The others you can't even taste.)

I love my kids, my husband, and my dog. I also have slight a obsession with makeup and fashion. I love to cook, make sugar cookies, and craft things. Anything that can make my life easier or prettier... I am pretty much all for! I love shoes, mostly high heels, because they make my legs look amazeballs. Or at least less blah. I don't like laundry. Like at all. But I love clothes. Does that make sense?
